The requirements for the Fran Fanelli Award are as follows: The scholar athlete must be on 3rd Year with Gaels and must be in 8th Grade. The members of the two oldest teams shall vote upon the Fran Fanelli Award.

The players vote shall go to the player who exhibits great athleticism, who is a leader on the field and practices great sportsmanship. For a player who showed responsiblity, exhibited great work ethic, and showed respect, as well as earned respect from his teammates and everyone else.
